Ralph Bovard, MD MPH

Ralph S. Bovard, MD MPH is the Program Director for the HealthPartners Occupational & Environmental Medicine Residency. He is a graduate of the U. of Minnesota medical school and completed an MPH & Preventive Medicine Residency at the U. of Arizona in 1996. He is board certified in Occupational Medicine & General Preventive Medicine, and is a fellow of ACOEM, ABPM, and ACSM.  Dr. Bovard has more than 30 years of clinical practice experience, working in emergency medicine, sports medicine & non-operative orthopedics, occupational & preventive medicine. He has worked in altitude & cold injury research on Mt. McKinley, as a missionary doctor in Papua New Guinea, an Everest expedition physician, as an Aspen-Colorado ski clinic MD, as the set doctor for the movies “River Wild” and “Cliffhanger”, and as a base physician at Palmer Station in Antarctica.  He has traveled internationally with US Alpine Ski Team and US Figure Skating Teams. He competes in masters swimming and Nordic skiing.
